Department of Poultry Science

The department of poultry was established in 2006 in Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. Department is offering the M. Phil. and PhD Poultry Science and undergraduate courses for DVM and B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture. The department is actively imparting teaching and research at postgraduate levels and both fields are addressed at greater detailed. We focus on problems of practical importance faced by poultry industry.

 

Department Mission

The Poultry Science Department is responsible for the production of trained and skilled resource persons for poultry industry and research institutes. The surveillance of different poultry diseases in arid areas, study of different stages of avian embryo in hatchery and production of high yielder poultry breeds through genetic selection and transgenic technology are other prime missions of the department. The Poultry Science Department is also committed to the education of graduate students in the Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences.

 

Future Planning and Area of Expansion

In the near future department with collaboration of Poultry Research Institute Rawalpindi will introduce the new high yielder poultry breed for more eggs and meat and we are trying to introduce the new alternate poultry feed ingredient for poultry industry.
