About Department
The Department of Forestry & Range Management was established in the year 2001. The Department has a mandate to carry out both teaching and research to address the problems of land degradation, with special emphasis on problems of rangeland degradation, deforestation and proper management of natural resources of arid and semi arid regions of the country. The Department is currently offering the degrees of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture major in Forestry & Range Management, M.Phil and Ph.D in Forestry & Range Management.
Major Objectives
- To impart higher education at undergraduate and post graduate levels in the field of Forestry & Range Management, Watershed and Wildlife Management.
- To supervise post graduate students in planning, conduct, and evaluation of thesis research as part of their degree programmes.
- To develop closer linkages with line departments and research organizations for mutual collaboration in research/development activities of natural resource conservation and improvement in arid and semi arid areas of Pakistan.
- To promote awareness among students, researchers, policy makers and community in general about natural resource conservation and management through publishing articles and organizing seminars/workshops on the subjects related to natural resource management.
Academic Achievements
The Department of Forestry & Range Management has prepared a comprehensive scheme of studies for all academic programmes at B.Sc. (Hons.), M.Phil and Ph.D levels. Since the establishment of the Department, four Ph.D scholars have completed their degree programmes, 14 students have completed their M.Sc. (Hons.) degree programme, 31 have completed their M.Phil degree programme and 106 students have successfully graduated in B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture with major in Forestry. The Department’s current enrollment stands at 7 Ph.D scholars, 29 M.Phil and 41 undergraduate level students.
