About URF
The University Research Farm (URF), PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi was established in October 2007 under the project titled “Development of on Farm Student Research Facilities (at Koont Gujjar Khan) UAAR” funded by Higher Education Commission (HEC). The total area of research farm is 1880 Kanals and it is located at village Koont, Gujar Khan (Mandra-Chakwal road) Rawalpindi. The project was completed in June, 2015 and URF became a regular component of the University.
The establishment of URF is aimed at i) imparting education in the field of agriculture in general and rainfed/barani agriculture in particular, hence producing highly skilled agricultural scientific manpower, ii) training the students (graduate and postgraduate) as well as farmers of the rainfed areas in modern scientific techniques, iii) providing the best planting materials to farmers for climatic conditions of the region, iv) investigating the management practices which should enhance crop productivity while minimizing soil degradation caused by erosion and nutrient losses. The mission of URF is to support the agricultural research, teaching, and public services of PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi in an efficient and effective manner.
URF provides a modern platform for research and demonstration for all the teaching faculties of the University. The main infrastructure of URF includes; administration block, veterinary teaching hospital, boys & girls hostels, staff residences, glass houses, field laboratories, machinery shed, water reservoirs, internet facility, RO water plant, weather station etc.
