Directorate of Students Affairs of PMAS-AAUR organized the first inter-faculty level Urdu Parliamentary style Debate contest at the University on June 10, 2010, with an aim to encourage the spirit of leadership among the students. In the contest each team has four members and the event was attended by faculty members and large numbers of the students of the University and they enjoyed thoroughly the lively and solid extempore speeches presented both in favor and against the topics.
In the contest Faculty of Forestry & Range Management & Wildlife got first, while Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences and University Institute of Information Technology got second and third positions, respectively.
Prof. Dr. Nemat-Ullah, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He appreciated the high standard and quality of debates and said PMAS-AAUR is striving to focus on extra-curricular activities along with academics to prepare the youth to meet contemporary challenges. At the end chief guest distributed cash prizes and certificates among the winners and participants of the contest.
Prof. Dr. M. Azhar Naeem, Director Students Affairs, in his address, said that speech contest provides a healthy environment for the students to brighten and promote communication skills in critical thinking and under the Directorate such type of events would be organized in future as well. |
